MOT day today. Got off lightly but need to replace the Ball Joint dust covers. Thought I'd post up a bit of info for people.

This is a new addition to the UK MOT test. Until now you could not buy these dust covers separately. But since the change they have started to appear. So should yours go, you can probably pick a set up from your local motor factors. The likes of Eurocarparts etc don't do them just yet and will try to sell you the whole assembly (£60 ish). I got a pair of dust covers for a fiver from my local autoparts. (y)

this has been on the mot since early this year along with a few other things including dash warning lights,so if you are turning a blind eye to you engine check light be warned!
sdl minorfern sell bags of replacement dust covers but they are universal so you get a few different sizes and have to buy them in bags of 6with 2 of each size I think they are around £25 a pack.

Most motor factors should stock them, my local one has for years (Motorist's Discount Centre, Slough).
You're more likely to find them in the 'lower end' shops, the sort that don't sell everything in over-priced blister packs.
