Technical AUX option missing - Firmware Upgrade needed?

Whilst I'm not going to go down the whole AUX/Blaupunkt/MP3 route again, it's clear that a growing number of us are finding that our HU's are missing the much discussed AUX option that is supposed to be selectable via the CD button. Mine does not.

I have seen for myself on a colleagues car (100hp) that a simple press of the CD button brings up AUX input. Mine doesn't. In fact neither of mine have, despite the latest being from an 08 car (Italian, I admit), with MP3 logo, with MP3 playbackk from CD, with all the right pin-out pictures on the back and the right pins there too. All absolutely in order - or so you'd think.

But with no AUX.

I have to assume this is a firmware thing on the HU itself. Anyone got any knowledge of such a thing?

Thanks everyone and sorry to resurrect this painful discussion, but at least I've not mentioned anything about colour connectors.....!

Is the Aux setting only selectable if something is actually plugged in to the aux connector? My Kenwood unit in the Mulitpla won't show iPod as an option unless the iPod is already plugged in...

Had thought that myself, but so far, nothing. Colleagues 100HP goes to AUX and he doesn't have anything in there. If only someone at Fiat could shed some light!

There are several different HU's that have been used over the years, that although all look very similar, they all have different features, some with MP3 CD etc.

So perhaps yours isn't suppost to have the Aux option

As far as I knew, the AUX selected the CD Multichanger, so the mp3 is a bit of a red herring apart from the fact the UK mp3 compatible models definitely have the AUX function....

When was the CD Changer intoduced?

Our '05 Eleganza has a single button marked SOURCE that swaps between radio and CD....If the CD Changer was available back then, I assume it would swap between the that too....?

Correct - for the older (2005) Blaupunkt unit (and even without MP3 written on it*), pressing 'Source' will swap from Radio to CD, and pressing again, but only if CD changer (or the genuine 2006 Fiat iPod adaptor) is fitted, then shows 'Changer'. If there is no CD in the slot and no changer or iPod adapter attached, pressing 'Source' shows 'No source' on the display and it stays on the radio setting.

*The MP3 logo business is confusing some people. Even without this label, you can connect an MP3 player or an iPod to the Blaupunkt head units if you use the correct connectors/adapter. If it says MP3 on the head unit, that is telling you it can play MP3 files saved to a CD put in the slot (which lets you put hundreds of tracks on one CD)... which is what older people used to do before the iPod came along The 2006 Fiat iPod adapter does not fully support newer iPods or the iPhone... which maybe why people find it doesn't work?
