Aux connector?

Hi all,

My MiTo and my girlfriends Bravo of 2011 have Blue and me with the USB port, like the link below.

Now above the USB port there is a round connector, I'm thinking AUX.
An AUX cable fits perfectly.

Can anyone tell me what this port is for and if I can use it for playing music from a media player over the car speakers?

Do you mean like this, only without the writing? If so, yes, it'll work with a 3.5mm jack.

I just replaced the link of the picture so you can see what I mean.

The hole above the USB drive on the picture, fits an AUX cable perfectly, like it was made for it.

Only when I plug in a phone and play music, I am unable to get it to play over the car speakers.

Maybe this picture will help as well.
