General Automatic windscreen wipers

Does anyone know how to turn this function off? ,preferably to a normal intermittant wipe,its worse than useless. I've not had a car without an intermittant wipe function for twenty years or so.
And yes my windscreen is clean so its not the sensor.

There is a way of doing it - just can't try it out until I get home later.

The manual is pretty poor at details.
Probably tanslated by school kids or something,doesnt really go into detail anywhere.

It can be done only in the garage with Fiat Examiner.

I don't have the sensor wipers and the interminnent is horrible too.
Until 50 mph it's too slow to be practical (every 7 seconds or so), then it becomes too fast so it's almost like the continues low speed...

Apparently it can be due to the angle of the sensor on the windscreen. If you take the cover off the sensor and make sure it is flush against the screen it may improve. Our's wasn't too good and after having the windscreen replaced it was much better, I then read on another forum it was probably due to the sensor being correctly seated in the holder.

Worth a try.

I find the auto wipers on the Ulysse are spot-on, unlike my Stilo which I turn off, absolutely useless - yet other Stilo owners rate them.

It must be all to do with the sensor :chin:

Bottom of the windscreen in the centre, the cover just pulls of to expose the wires and sensor. Just make sure it's flush with the glass as it uses angle of reflection to calculate rain on the screen.

If you look on the outside of the windscreen in the middle, a few cm's up from the plastic bonnet trim you will see a black round disk (about 50p size) with something that look's like a lense in the middle. This is the sensor and if you look from inside the car you will see a piece of trim covering this lense and also the cables going down behind the dash.
