i think there should be an auto merger for reposts as it would save mods or other members telling people its a repost and would save the mods having to merge them.

i see where your coming from but i think generally it should be auto merge and if it doesnt need to be merged then mods can un merge it.
eg there have been at least three threads on ll about this: class driving vid
already and no doubt there will be more.

But if it gets auto-merged, it still needs moderator intervention to tidy up the thread after a merge...

well if not an auto merge an auto report of similar topic and then the mod can decide if it needs merging.

I dont like that idea at all. thing is repost (car related) do not always end with people shouting to use the search button. sometimes a fault that seems like one thing could be another... or someone has found a better fix for a problem.
