General Audio system help please?

Hi everyone I need some help please? I installed a JVC KD-G355 in my 1997 FIAT UNO FIRE 3 dore 1100. I did the installation as follows:

I disconnected my battery terminals. Then I took my ground cable on the back of my radio and connected it to the negative terminal of my battery. Then on my radio I have got a yellow wire called my memory cable and I connected this cable to my positive pole on my cars battery. Then I looked for a A/C on my cars ignition but didn't find one so I then tested all my cables coming from my ignition there was a orange , yellow & red , thick grown , thick red and a blue & yellow one so I decided to connect my power cable (the red cable on my radio) to the blue cable on my ignition.

I have got a ICE 435 4 channel Amp with a 800W Earthquake sub and 2 6x9 280W LG speakers in the back. I connected my 3 cables from my Amp as follows:

There is a thin oranje cable that I connected with normal 2.5mm cable to the remote output only cable (blue & white cable) at the back of my radio. Then I connected my Thick black cable to my ground cable of my radio that is connected to my negative terminal on my cars battery. Then I connected my thick red cable from my Amp to the positive terminal of my battery. I connected and extended both my thick black and thick red (positive & negative) cables at the back of my amp with 4mm cable that I think is to small because if I play my radio harder than 22 on the volume one of my fuses on my amps cable burns out I use 10 - 15 fuses. Can anyone please give me there opinion to better this installation because my battery has gone because something keeps draining it so I disconnected my radio and amp and now it seems the problem is gone. The terminals on my battery made sparks when removing one of the terminals and when I disconnected the radio it doesn't make the sparks anymore and the battery doesn't get drained at all please can anyone help please.

And is there any way to make a A/C for a FIAT UNO because its the first time that I have seen a car without a A/C

If you want A/C (air conditioning) then get all the bits from an air-con car and fit to yours. Not easy if you are not familiar with cars. I think they sell A/C Unos in SA.

Your wiring sounds correct, so there may be a fault with the separate amp where it is always on (maybe a switch sets it this way). Otherwise, the ignition feed to the radio (red) is actually on sometimes when you are not there. Try disconnecting the separate amp main power and see if it drains battery then or makes a large spark like you describe. You can connect it when you are driving if you want for now whilst you are testing.

I also just recently got my first Fiat and was very much surprised as well to see that the ignition has no acc position. It's quite annoying not being able to turn the radio on without starting the car or switching the ignition on. I'm also looking for a good solution around this problem without having to rewire the radio, I like my radio to turn off when switching the ignition off though. Will let you know if I stumble across a suitable solution.

Oh, so when he said AC, he meant ACC as in accessory power supply. Whoops!

When I wire a stereo into an Uno, I go for the blue supply wire to the heater fan switch, as it's nearby and protected by a suitable fuse (comes on when the key is on). The heater fan switch has one wire coming in and two coming out - the one going in is the one you need - check it with a multimeter or test light. That becomes your ACC feed (connect to red wire on the stereo wiring).

In the stereo aperture you should have found a red wire with green stripe (Uno Mk2; it was brown for the Mk1). This is live at all times, has an appropriate fuse, and should be connected to the yellow wire on the stereo wiring. You don't need a direct feed from the battery for the headunit - that standard wire is sufficient.

There should also be a black (ground) wire in the stereo aperture, but if not, either tap into the black wire to the cigarette lighter, or attach an eye terminal to a new black wire and put it under one of the four nuts that hold the heater casing to the bulkhead, right at the front of the cabin.

If the stereo is quite fancy, it will have an 'illumination' wire that dims the display when the headlights are on. You can find the yellow/red stripe wire for this either at the bulb that illuminates the heater controls, or at the cigarette lighter socket.

For your amplifier you do need that separate feed from the battery. The fuse for this should be as close to the battery as practical, so that the wire run is protected against shorts to the bodywork. You've probably found the useful grommet to get the wire through, in the top corner of the bulkhead, under the windscreen.

Just an idea...

Regarding the battery feed (for the amplifier), you also have another alternative as I've found out two days ago when replacing the speed cable. The speed cable has a gaiter to cross the firewall and this gaiter also has a hole for the rear screen wiper. If you remove this gaiter (quite easy) you will see there are two more holes you can easily open (with a screwdriver) to pass cables through.
