Re: Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225
why a TT?
sorry I couldnt help it

you know i dont even know what they are like?
i remember the bosses trophy wife at a job getting one when they first came out
but i havent really paid them much attention
lol funny one! it drives me up the wall same with the why a fiat or ergh hondas are for old people arent they etc. it really pi55es me off!
right you asked for it...
Engine:
at standard the 225 (only engine i tested and i tested around 8 tt's) the 225 is quick 225bhp and 207lbs and also very smooth

with some research aslong as the cambelt/tensioners and the water pump are changed the engine is solid the 225 has forged internals and with not huge budgets a 400bhp with similar torque is in reach. My TT will be remapped with the usual cat back and CAI and that usually returns a 250bhp 270lbs figure which is tasty for the money.
Handling:
The wooden steering reporters moan about is quickly sorted by lowering it and changing the suspension arm bushes (kit called defcon 2)then its precise and has feedback probably not as much as my rx8 but good weighted feedback, once youve modified the suspension along with the 4wd the grip is crazy mind bendingly so a corner most cars would brake hard for the tt just hangs on :slayer:. The TT has a harder spring set up as standard but the dampening compensates for it so a pot hole you ride smoothly over but road chamber changes take revenge!
Comfort:
Cruising is nice with plenty of room up front the back seats are a joke they will stay down for more boot space i think but the front has nice headroom and space all round, The cruise control, supportive but comfy seats (gps gave me bad backache as does it give other owners ive spoke to) and the amount of torque the 6th gear makes it effortless although wind/road noise is higher than average and also much higher once youve changed the alloys/tyres and lowered it.
Toys:
Equipments good, heated seats, bose 6cd changer, climate control, xenon headlamps with washers etc. as standard to the 225. also being that the model has been around since 98' theres lots of upgrades and owner advice avaliable from leather armrests to LED lighting things and also most extras are avaliable via breakers or ebay.
Practical:
They do fairly well on petrol even a remapped tt with similar driving returns the same as my modified gps not great for high mileagers but fine for my 7000 a year

actually come with a space saver spare wheel as standard and cigarette lighters and fair little storage bits, doesnt sound much but its the little things that make a car! tax aslong as its pre 2006 the tax is reasonable too only 60more than the punto and 60 a year isnt worth even considering, insurance is higher obviously but i tell you this for a fact in the last 4months ive done quotes for fast hatches and coupes alike and coupes are all considerably cheaper than the equivilant hatchback well for me anyway.
umm i dont know what else to say but overall they are a good car otherwise i wouldnt have bought one ill let you know what they are to live with in a few weeks see if im crying or still smiling then lol but overall for my requirements, something of a project, comfort, safety, handling and power it suited nicely
