Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225.

Introduction

Little preview picture of my new project i mean car

2052976-6.jpg

Its already been modified as im sure the private plate and the day running lights and the 3.2 v6 bumper show but theres still plenty to do!

im way excited, but ive got another weeks wait before i can get her home as its having a new steering rack fitted before i hand the cash over. but its worth it the 1.8l 4pot 20valve ko3 turbocharger is very tuneable :D

if anyone saw my grande punto tjet theyll know i like a shiny colourful engine bay and this car will be no different, already ordered a few bits going for a silver/blue theme this time round.

Btw if all your going to say is why a TT or the various hilarious TT jokes then dont bother posting.
Re: Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225

why a TT?

sorry I couldnt help it :D
you know i dont even know what they are like?
i remember the bosses trophy wife at a job getting one when they first came out
but i havent really paid them much attention

lol funny one! it drives me up the wall same with the why a fiat or ergh hondas are for old people arent they etc. it really pi55es me off!

right you asked for it...

Engine:

at standard the 225 (only engine i tested and i tested around 8 tt's) the 225 is quick 225bhp and 207lbs and also very smooth (y) with some research aslong as the cambelt/tensioners and the water pump are changed the engine is solid the 225 has forged internals and with not huge budgets a 400bhp with similar torque is in reach. My TT will be remapped with the usual cat back and CAI and that usually returns a 250bhp 270lbs figure which is tasty for the money.

Handling:

The wooden steering reporters moan about is quickly sorted by lowering it and changing the suspension arm bushes (kit called defcon 2)then its precise and has feedback probably not as much as my rx8 but good weighted feedback, once youve modified the suspension along with the 4wd the grip is crazy mind bendingly so a corner most cars would brake hard for the tt just hangs on :slayer:. The TT has a harder spring set up as standard but the dampening compensates for it so a pot hole you ride smoothly over but road chamber changes take revenge!

Comfort:

Cruising is nice with plenty of room up front the back seats are a joke they will stay down for more boot space i think but the front has nice headroom and space all round, The cruise control, supportive but comfy seats (gps gave me bad backache as does it give other owners ive spoke to) and the amount of torque the 6th gear makes it effortless although wind/road noise is higher than average and also much higher once youve changed the alloys/tyres and lowered it.

Toys:

Equipments good, heated seats, bose 6cd changer, climate control, xenon headlamps with washers etc. as standard to the 225. also being that the model has been around since 98' theres lots of upgrades and owner advice avaliable from leather armrests to LED lighting things and also most extras are avaliable via breakers or ebay.

Practical:

They do fairly well on petrol even a remapped tt with similar driving returns the same as my modified gps not great for high mileagers but fine for my 7000 a year ;) actually come with a space saver spare wheel as standard and cigarette lighters and fair little storage bits, doesnt sound much but its the little things that make a car! tax aslong as its pre 2006 the tax is reasonable too only 60more than the punto and 60 a year isnt worth even considering, insurance is higher obviously but i tell you this for a fact in the last 4months ive done quotes for fast hatches and coupes alike and coupes are all considerably cheaper than the equivilant hatchback well for me anyway.

umm i dont know what else to say but overall they are a good car otherwise i wouldnt have bought one ill let you know what they are to live with in a few weeks see if im crying or still smiling then lol but overall for my requirements, something of a project, comfort, safety, handling and power it suited nicely :D

Re: Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225

You have stood your ground with this car, looks like you've thought about everything expecially modifications.

400bhp and 4wd.... WIN!!!

Vag cars are amazing.

Could be a nice sleeper, Don't like the fact that it's silver :(
Get more pictures up when you get it mate!

Re: Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225

Will you be removing the rear wing to make it into a proper flier?

Only kidding, seen a few of these about modded now should make a good base.

yeah i try best i can with stuff even if i f**k it up there was effort involved haha when i inspected the car the guy said i have never seen someone check and test a car like you just did lol

yeah it wont be hitting big power yet ill learn to control it first before i go nuts but im thinking a larger turbo, 550cc injectors and new fuel pump, new downpipe and de-cat or sports cat, maybe intercooler and few other bits its all just an idea atm i do wanna move out so its what funds i have left you see

what colour do you thinks better for it?

i will do as usual ill photo every step of me modifying apart from when i get too into what im doing and forget haha

yeah thats my thinking behind it plenty of mark 4 gtis have got massive power with this engine but i didnt want a golf, i did think of the seat leon as i hear that ecu is particulary kind to tuners but i went for 4wd safety as we are coming into winter after all and it should get the power down so a good base is right

itll be a silent demon when ive finished :p its got different alloys on it atm aparently extremely expensive alloys, i was thinking to put on the 9spoke audi stock alloys as a good way to tone it down so people dont know what theyre dealing with :p

Bigger turbo ahaa, as its got forged internals? it should manage it. :D

I think it would look better in black as all German cars have a nice deep black colour (y)

You have to go decat :D

yeah it should the block should take it aswell ;)

black does look immense when its freshly polished but my tjet was black dont think ill ever go back, too stressful tryna keep it clean if i had a garage i think i probably would go for a dark colour again but not until then i battled for 2 and a half years against road grit and salt, mud, rain and the sun and i was defeated the weather wore me down :worship:

all this talk of the TT makes me even more inpatient, im starting a new job on tuesday so hopefully thatll take my mind off it, although its as a courier so i doubt it as ill probably drive past 100 of them by the weeks end :( i cannot wait to get behind the wheel the wait is killing me

Re: Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225

hmm, very nice..ive always had a soft spot for TT's, only Some though. 225bhp sounds very tasty and out of a 1.8litre, is pretty wicked, these have Helix 4wd system right ?

haldex but yeah they are four wheel drive, good for traction but also the simple task of driving to work in winter you know :p

Re: Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225

umm thanks i think

Yes, just not a fan of TTs but with 4WD it makes sense, but non 4WD, you can have much better looking cars, better handling cars, more practical cars. but with 4wd it makes sense, the handling will be much better, and as no other more practical and better looking cars are available, in it's class it's excellent.

its the tuning factor for me as i said above, the engine is solid so the power the car can make and its ability to get it to the tarmac for the price its unbeatable really as at the end of the day its an easy to drive comfy small coupe it suits my needs for now, but i do like to change my mind alot might decide v6's are where its at in the following year  who knows but aslong as i buy and sell at the right price its not costing me :slayer:

Re: Audi TT Coupe Quattro 225

No, a handbag to match the interior lol

Only joking james, like it alot, 225bhp standard I would love to have that :)

hmm

the car has already been AMD mapped and ill get it onto some rollers at some point to make sure what shes producing but its gonna be a hell lot more than that my friend when ive finished ;)

F the haters :) this is going to be awesome! :yum:

thank you!! to be fair the previous owner has done a fair bit of work already thus making it the perfect base to get a little silly :slayer:

and if anyones interested i ordered stainless bolts to replace the plastic crap that breaks off when you try to screw on the various engine covers, blue silicone upper boost hoses, polished charge pipe, polished rocker cover ( to which ive gotta find a new gasket for :( )and polished inlet manifold :D

in the process of trying to source a silicone t.i.p. (Silicone pipe like the gsr that goes to the turbo from the air filter) for her too but havent massive problems finding one for my apx engine :(
