Smaller engines tend to have a higher mpg than larger engines and tend to be for economy use, not performance.

Well I'm happy with the little 1.2, all you need to do is do a little work and you've got a very nippy car. I've had 120 out of mine, and my car pisses all over many of the 1.4's out there, Like the Rover 200 series, the Clio 1.4, etc.

Plus i've had over 60 mpg from it.

boost valve

sean, i have heard reports of dramatic improvements with the boost valve. To get the best from it you should also fit an induction kit. I got one recently (kit) from prosport in england for only 65 pound and the difference is noticable as well as the sweet engine note. also complementing this with a new performance exhaust will do nicely. So to get the best from the boost valve you should purchase these other extras as well. hope this helps mate. any good info you get would be greatly appreciated pal. cheers. john@121
 
I agree....

...the 1.2 is a nippy car, for a 1.2. Bring the revs up high and it moves all right. Stuck to the arse of a mate in his Laguna one day up to over 100 but then I bottled it, revved the **** out of it but he wasn't getting away from me.

What are these Dramatic improvements

Does it need the exhaust and filter because it's been set up for these. Any figures available? Is it just noisier? Is it chucking in more fuel?

here matey, you stated you can get 120mph out your 1200cc bravo...... i'd love to see you prove this mate. I highly doubt that would be possible unless the road you were on was never ending and you were also traveling DOWN a very steep hill. I have a 1400cc and from experience of these cars they usually become very poor in acceleration after the 105 mph mark. Now i know they ain't always correct, but the manual states nowhere near that speed for your car.
 
1.4 Vs 1.2

I don't know anything about the 1.2 and how fast it goes. But i can vouch for the 1.4 that it can get up to 121 mph, it was on the M4 coming back from Bath. There was a slight hill (downwards) but i had 2 people in the car and boot full of luggage, i had a BMW up my arse so i pulled over and slowed down, it shook and the fuel went down dramatically, but 121MPH on the clock!

the reason we buy little 1.2 16v and 1.4 12v is because the tax is a hell of a lot cheaper than a 1.6, we it is for me.

ive had a 1.6 vaux cav and it used twice as much fuel as my 1.4 12v and im in the middle of modding the engine and i dont care wot the insurance company say, and i know the lecture about not telling them, but im not driving to crash!

i have a 2000V 1.2 with an induction kit and have had 105mph in 4th gear. i haven't tried the top speed yet!! im too much of a *****!

Excellent. People now think the manufacturers have a conspiracy to choke the power of their engines. What planet are you on?

These devices are very dubious. I doubt very much that they work. The explanations behind them hold little water, and seem to go the 'baffle with science' route. For as long as there have been motor cars, there have been scams with gadgets that have miraculous claims.

Just think: if this device really worked, wouldn't manufacturers be making sidevalve engines with power valves, rather than going to the extra expense of 16 valves and twin cams?

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
