its been 5 weeks and 2000 miles already. done quite a few mods.

its a 2000 vauxhall astra bertone edition with the 2.2 16v ecotec engine.

on the front i've fitted a badgeless grill and black headlights (original vauxhall)

on the back i've removed the astra bagde, painted the vauxhall badge black and tinted the indicator and reverse light sections of the rear lights.

tbh this is only temporary and the plan is to get the original tinted lights and the boot spoiler and put a bertone badge where the vauxhall badge is.

the interior isnt bad at all, but its still an astra interior at the end of the day.

i've stuck a twin cone air filter on, it roars like a mofo :D

i took the headunit, sub and amp out my alfa before i sold it so i've put them in the astra. alpine CDA-9855r, jbl gto4000, jbl CS1204B sub & box.
i'm planning to replace the speakers with JBL components front and rear.

its got a great spec (i think i love cruise control), and it drives really well, its practicle and easy to live with, i've got a mint example and i cant really fault it as a car, but at the same time i cant love it or even have any emotions for it. i dont smile when i walk towards it, the alfa always made me smile.

i dropped a 156 CD-Rom manual off for the guy who bought my alfa and she was parked outside. it was a weird feeling, i half expected to find the key in my pocket and drive it home.

Nice car. My dad has an Astra 2.2 Bertone like that. But it's the SE2 version. In Europa blue with two tone leather/alcantara seats, spolier etc. I'll try grab some pics if i can at some point. It's a 52 reg and it's done 5,000 miles. Still like brand new. He's had it chipped aswell, so it's running around 161BHP i think.

Looks good for an astra...sorry I can't be more positive but not a car I have strong feelings for either way...Know the feeling of seeing someone else drive your car keep seeing my old punt out and about and getting wistful but then again its always different when some other poor sod is footing the repair bills.

For the rear you need these Attachment 49715
i dont really like aftermarket lights, the quality is never as good. i like the original vauxhall tinted versions better.

What else have you planned??
i'm spraying the cnetre console grey to match the other grey bit of the interior, its currently a brozey blue colour. i'm also changing the back lights and badges again, and replacing the speakers to finish off the ice, and then i need the boot spoiler, and some turbo alloys, and then with a bit of luck a leather interior should finish it off nicely.

a tad lower and i think its spot on!
cool shop thanks mate (y) now i want to lower it.
i must resist because i'm not planning to keep it long. i'm gonna give it to my girlfriend and sell her punto definately before the end of Nov and she doesnt like lowering springs so i wont be doing it, but if i was keeping it i would defo be lowering it.

all i see are red x's
my bad, i used photobucket (coz they dont have the silly legal disclaimers that FF has). i guess PB was temporariliy down coz they working now.

you got turbo? poxall's are full of limiters
nope not the turbo, its the 2.2 N/A (z22se). same engine used in newer alfas. all alloy so its really light giving the car great balance, and its really torquey. shame it only revs to 6500rpm, but there are few cars on the road that can keep up so i can forgive it.

nice! :yum:

Isn't the 2.2 in Alfas near 180bhp? Must be a few differences other than a map.

yeah alfa redesigned the head and played with the fueling and ignition to get 185bhp peak and a much better torque curve, and the rev limiter is extended. alfa rock :slayer:

looks nice, and like the badgeless grill,

dont like what you've done to the rear lights though, would of looked better left orange... i like the tinted rear lights though :yum: could you not have just lightly tinted all of the light to give the same effect?

I like what you have done with the Astra, it's subtle without being over the top. Don't get me wrong i love my Fiats, but always got plenty of time for other makes as well!! Given me some insperation to get cracking with my punto and get it back to its former glory! Got to save up for a respray in the original colour, and fix some broken/ missing trim and get the mechanicals serviced etc.. Then some subtle mods planned, nothing drastic just incase i want to put it standard again!

my girlfriend has a mk2 punto sporting. she just rang me to say her exhaust has melted her bumper. WTF! i'm not feeling any inspiration so i may set it on fire when i get home. every time i get the bloody thing back to perfection it throws something else at me. she isn't allowed another fiat ever again, i dont have the time or energy any more.

i like the way you decide what she has:p

Looking at this Vauxhall I can see where the Twin Top came from now, with its hood up it looks very similar to your coupe, wicked looking car.
I hired a 1.6 T/Top last week nice car but very under powered on hills up and down box like a yo yo but It did kick it's heels up rather well along the straight, never really been a Vauxhall fan but was really inpressed by this one, apart from lack of storage space for things like keys, coins, sunglasses, no where to dump your phone, all it had was door pockets and a glovebox which I though was a bit poor, apart from that it was a really nice car to drive.
