Issue solved with the ASR switch where it is situated it's prone to getting dust probably coffee spills mine never worked since I got the van so I took the switch out you can separate it quite easily 4 small tabs and it comes apart you will find a small circuit board like mine all covered in dust and stains I got electrical cleaner and gently cleaned now there is no spring as such just a little rubber type which is enough to work the return be careful not to lose it the button itself was clogged safe enough to put in a dish and give it a good clean reassembled it quite easy and now works perfectly so if anyone thinks they need a new switch just take it out and give it a good clean
