As Fiat in their great wisdom decided to provide new car owners with stupid non-locking fuel caps... :bang:
The part that I'm after is an original Fiat Stilo Diesel Fuel Cap complete with lock with a key that resembles that of the ignition. I've found a place which can change the pins in the lock so that it matches the ignition key. I feel that those working in Parts only really take a request seriously where you have done the research and have the part number already.
My local dealer was going to charge me £277 for the pleasure of inserting a lockable fuel cap as if being female I couldn't do it myself, so naturally I bought an after-market product for about £15 instead. I now would dearly like to get rid of the extra key I'm now carrying...
And yes, I do drive a new Panda, but the Stilo fuel cap matches it size-wise, and although the Stilo now probably is fitted with the same stupid non-locking fuel cap, it did once have a lockable diesel version.
If I can get the right parts and it works out as planned, I'll post details back here...
