Hello and thanks for looking,

Ill try to be to the point!

Got given a kenwood stereo. The van was on its original fiat stereo (scudo 2004 facelift)

All plugs fit no problem but when i turn of engine the stereo looses all settings etc. I know its something to do with the permanant live.

I know ithere is a lack of info on my part, So what info do you need in able to maybe help me out. I dont have a manual for new stereo. Prob soon get one off the net if needed.

Are there any general rules for stereo replacements. pointers greatly received(y)

Thanks again.

Cant remember what the colours are on the scudos but there is a permenent live and a switched live (switches on and off with ignition) in the plug. You need to identify those 2 wires and swap them round in the plug. (y)

the two thick pink wires are permanent live and switched live they should be in the wire wrap with a yellow earth wire.

I'm actually thinking of fitting a new stereo (radio has stopped working in the Fiat unit).

Is it fair to assume that it will be a case of unplugging the fiat stereo and then simply plugging into the new stereo??

If its an older style scudo <07 then just swap them over, the only thing you will probably loose is the steering wheel controls. If its a newer style 07> then it cant be done as the stereo controls a lot more the the music.

Yes, sorry, I have a 52 reg flat 1.9D el.

Thanks for advice.

I can remember, nearly 20 years ago, when I first owned cars that changing stereos used to be a nightmare. Mainly because the wires had all been chopped and joined like a pound of mince during the life of the car. Tracing wires used to be a nightmare.

Hello,
Thanks for your replies. Ill pull it out and take a look. Ill let you know how i get on.

@bossman74 I have just plugged in my new stereo in and it works but as i said you loose all the settings ie radio stations. Also you end up listening to the start of a cd every time you get in the van!! So you can do it its just one of those things thats gettin on me nerves!

I have a 2004 1.9el.

Thanks again... Lee

Just a quick reply. I finally got round to doing my stereo. I changed the two wires around and all is well now. The wires changed where all in the same block so was dead easy to find. Also luckily for me the wires on the stereo itself had bullet connectors in line on the two relevant cables. So no cutting required just changed them over. Seems someone in the factory thought of this ha ha ha

i have an 06 Scudo, old shape. No speakers have ever been fitted in the back, anyone know if there are wires in the loom between radio set and rear to pick up to connect speakers?
