Just wondering if anyone is interested in a bit of a drive/meet?

When I say meet, I don't mean at a car show or in a car park where people can detail their wheels and so on, I mean a drive over some nice roads, some good grub and perhaps a visit to a museum or something similar that interests people (even a walk would be good).

Could even be based around a trackday or something somewhere. Could be anything.

A few years back RobW and a few others met up at RAF Cosford and we had a guided tour around the museum which was nice.

Most of the previous 500 meets have been more or less in France, so for some of us it would have been a trek and a half. If we had a meet in North Wales I know some fantastic roads to drive on, some great places to eat and I'm sure I could find a few interesting things to do as well :)

Other suggestions could be the peak district which has some great roads and is probably a bit more central and easier to get to for people. I don't however know of any activities or good food.

Any suggestions of locations or activities are appreciated, basically anywhere that's not within a stones through of the Channel or up where the Jocks live would be good as there hasn't really been a 500 meet anywhere other than the extreme south!

Obviously all models would be welcome. Except for 500 Lardy's.

Count me in - depending on where of course.
Motor Museum in Gaydon?

Cosfords near me, love that place. A nice drive through north Wales would be good and a trip to the pub :)

I live in Bridgnorth, Shropshire to give you an idea of my position.

Yeah that wouldn't be a bad idea. Could do geocaching around here also, not my thing, but I'd happily do it :)

I'm in Cannock, Staffs. Not far from Cosford : )

I wasn't really sure what geocaching involved but a quick Google and it looks quite interesting

We did some geocaching today at the Nottingham meet and with a few people is a bit of a hoot, most things are more fun when done en-masse.

Meeting up with people that drive the same sort of car as you is a bit weird and geeky, if you also do geocaching at the same time I think it will take a very special kind of person that could do that and make it sound cool to their workmates when they ask what you did at the weekend.

Count me out of the geogeeking but I am up for some driving and general crap talk something to eat or drink and maybe some good locations to take some great photos of your car (I am happy to lend out equipment and tips on how to make your photos look good)
Do it after I get my new 595 competizione.

The best locations for photos coincided with geocache locations. I'll agree its not everyone's cup of tea but its easy to get 'caught up in the moment' and there's nothing funnier than seeing seven blokes emerge from the undergrowth when there's hikers walking past. :D

It's not really my thing if I'm honest, but if enough people wanted to then why not.

RUI's idea is a bit more palatable for me if I'm honest, but if enough people want to do something then we shall do that.

Obviously something that appeals to as many people as possible would be great :)

Also, when I talk about good food, I don't just mean some pub that serves a decent steak and ale pie ;) There's a fantastic Teppanyaki in Chester that does great food and it's also a good show too.

I went geocaching for a friends stag do, wild times..... :p

When do you get the new car?

Tell you what, we should have a vote.

People, suggest as many things to do and places to meet and roads to drive on as possible and we will have a vote. To a certain extend I will veto anything too far south (IMO) as this is to be something for people further up North who can't really get to meetings on the south coast.

I will have a bit of a look at some of my favourite roads round here and think of places to take photos, places to eat and so on and make up a mini itinerary.

Once there's an idea of numbers and dates and what we could do I shall post a poll

Totally agree, we first did it at the Prodrive meet. As none of us knew the area it was a good way to go for a drive with a purpose and finite end. As everyone enjoyed themselves we tried the same thing today and it worked just as well. I'm not saying its the be all and end all for meets but its a good standby if things start to 'stagnate'. (Always good to have a backup plan). Good food is always appreciated  and a nice drive in some stunning scenery goes down well also.

When do you get the new car?

Not sure yet, I am having to go to a dealer thats 100 miles away on the south coast and I happen to be going to the same area in a couple of weeks. They have a demo car for a good price but it may be sold by then if it is sold I may just order a new one but I do like the idea of saving £4000 on a car thats just 6 months old.

Let us know, I'm sure people would like to have something different there :)

Only day I've got something planned is on the 28th when the wife is doing a glider flight but I'm free most weekends.

If things got really boring, we could go fly my kite :p
