I have a 1.9 JTD

I have had black smoke coming from my exhaust, the garage has cleaned the injectors hoping this may help. The car now runs very well but there is still black smoke.

The computer readout told him that there is a wiring or ecu fault.

Has anyone had similar problems? so I can get an idea how much an ecu or wiring problem is to fix?

Any help would be appreciated

Black smoke is fuel, but the first question that springs to mind is, if the computer readout tells him the ecu or wiring is at fault, why did he clean the injectors?

Perhaps one of the regulars can help with specific fault codes.

On a point of interest, how much did it cost to clean and re-calibrate the injectors please?

They are usually a specialist job rarely done by a servicing garage.

Was it actually done by the dealer, contracted-out by them, or did they send you to a diesel shop?

TIA

cheers

Injectors cleaned by a mechanic who is a friend of the family. About £40 to have them cleaned, I usally get this done along with a service when I get a new car, don't worry I asked to have it done.

EGR was replaced by the last owner and there is no fault code for this. Only the ECU or wiring?

I agree that the black smoke is fuel, the mpg is down too. If it is unspent fuel maybe it is just overfueling due to a computer fault?

And now my wife has just phoned me and told me we have white smoke to accompany the black smoke, is this a turbo problem?

And the revs are going up by themselves???

I think i've had enough of this multipla already:bang:, which is a real shame as it was great towing, stacks of room inside, double sunroofs etc etc.

Well gutted:(
