Technical anyone got a gearbox laying around or have theirs off at the moment?

Following my gearbox probs and trying to source a 2nd hand one I have encountered the same problem with 2 different gearboxes and wondering whether anyone is able to check theirs while its off?
The outer bearing race on both gearboxes spins in its housing when the input shaft is spun..this can't be right but seems strange that both boxes where the same!

Is this on the input shaft bearing that's next to the clutch? As you say, doesn't sound right. Any signs of wear or picking up in the seating for the bearing?

Yes, when you remove the oil seal cover to reveal the input shaft bearing, when spinning the shaft the outer race spins aswell..although not at the same revolutions but that must be where its dragging on the casing..
Just seems strange that on 2 gearboxes they both have the same fault...problem is to remove the bearing you have to dismantle the whole box, which we struggled to get apart...and neigh on destroyed my orginal box..
