Put this here as most likely to get results, I hope!
I am looking for a complete air filter box for an 05 2.8 JTD, not bothered about rubber mounts or stuck screws, as long as it is all structurally sound and unbroken. Pics will help as AFAIK there may be more than one type. I'm going to have to bust mine to get at the reverse light switch as the screws are chewed up beyond all hope and it is buried way back in the bay of an A class MoHo with no access from above!!
Wot a bloomin job, grrrrr.:bang:

Have you tried unbolting the bracket its attached to or cutting the rubber mounts eg with a hacksaw blade, extended box knife or wire saw.

Hello Corcai.Thing is, access is so bad I can't reach owt to make the job less damaging.See pic- it doesn't really show how far back things are. Pic is a bit dark, like. So this butcher needs a new carcase to sew in when the blood is spilt! And it will still be a job of work too. Cheers.

Can I ask how far have you got? Have you managed to remove the big intake and turbo connect pipes, together with the crankcase breather which is a bayonet fitting into the lower part of the filter housing? Presumably you’ve got the lid off and air filter cartridge out?

Blaven,, not even started yet! I don't think there is a bayonet fitting, think it is like this one here

Unless the on ebay is broken or missing something? And I'm not looking forward to doing it either, and am unable to do so due to family commitments for some time, but wanted to get the bits in case an opportunity should arise.

If you look at the second picture you’ll see a small tube or spigot sticking up from the right hand large tube. On my 2003 2.8JTD this is attached to a crankcase breather pipe. Difficult to see from the picture but again, on my van, this spigot is inserted into the large lower pipe by rotating through 90deg.and it locks in place. You can, of course, slacken off a jubilee clip and remove the breather pipe by pulling it off the spigot. The lid of this air box looks to be held in place by vertically placed screws, not by 3 spring clips as on my Fiat.
Vertical screws not good for you I think? Also, on my Fiat, there is a small locating lug on the rim of the box which fits into the corresponding slot in the lid thus providing positive locating.

I think youare absolutely right,,,,access is very limited to even to get in and see. Vertical screws, that rust on the heads, are a rubbish idea! AND they are so far under the scuttle panel, you could not get to them well even if they were not rusty. The earlier ones with spring clips are soooo much better, and if I could fitone, I would.

Access is horrendous above alright but I think you could get the bracket bolts from underneath, You only have to remove the bottom bracket bolt which is visible from below, then you only have to loosen the other two a little as they are in an open slot in the bracket, once loose the bracket will slide out.

Corcai, that would be bolt number 6 would it, and the other 2 are slotted as it shows. Access is still bad from underneath, as there is an awful lot of extra panelling around the original inner wings and jacking up is a real chore as the whole thing is 5.2t and just taking off and replacing a wheel is hernia inducing for me (not that it would make it easier to get at).
I will look at it and see if the method you suggest will work for me. All I need is to find time to spare now, lol! Thanks.
