General any tyre recomendations?

ok me back tyres are the orignals from jan 2001 they are low tread and one has slow puncture just started, soo as winter here figured treat myself to a pair of new tyres.

anyone have a preference? or more importanly anyone bought sum tyres that turned out to be cr*p that i should avoid

Ive driven a car with Yokohama A539 on and recommend those

Ive got Nankang on mine at the moment, dont get them theyre crap. In fact you've probably never heard of them theyre that crap!

never ever by stomil if they still exist that hard as rock, i think Nankang are ok for the price but you have to trim the bits of rubber out the treads where there mold leaks a bit or they will not dispell water.

My pirelli's are not v.good in the wet but excellent in the dry. hth

Yeah it is in the wet when theyre rubbish, the car just understeers on roundabouts. What do you mean trim the bits of rubber where the mould leaks??

in the tread there is bits of rubber that shouldnt be there you can pick it out with screwdriver,

the 2 you said to avoid i got now what are the odds

seems liek i have worst tyres ever on my car at moment i got pirellis on back the originals they are crap and nankang on front that the dealer put on when i bought car lol

may go mad and repalce all 4 if there is good discount. been reading tyre reviews ( kinda sad for a saturda night i know ) and have heard many many good reports for the bridgestone potanza re 720 model including great recommendations for wet driving in. think they will be 60-70 a corner though for me sporting

My Punto came with Dunlop Sport SP2000's, seem ok to me.

I've got Kumho low profiles on my punto and there s**t hot, especially in the rain- due to being directional.

I bought them as part of a wheel and tyre package x4 and that cost me £400 delivered, balanced with new bolts etc.

Yokohama's are officially sh*t in the wet but fantastic in the dry

yeah they do them in corect size i checked. i was searching for tyreson mytyres.com web site you stick in size and it lists loads you can order and they get fitted but i was just using it as you can allso get reviews of the tyres on there.

my sporting takes 185/55/15's

i had them but they had the dreaded center bead that little stones got stuck in then they would be crap in the wet

if you drive fast enough little stones dont get stuck cus the centripetal force flings 'em out. ;-)

ATM I have Uniroyal's on the back, and Avons on the front. But they're the standard 14" wheels, probably not what most are having. It came with Firestone's, and I replaced the fronts with Firesatones, which are fine. Then I had some Continetals on the fron, and disliked them - they lasted 8k and didn't provide more grip. Got the rears done and then the fronts a few months later, and am happy for now. Also, it seems to be okay in the wet.
