I have a
  • JVC KDG421 Head Unit
  • Kenwood KFC-7189IE 7x10's
  • Some alpine 3.5" in the front

Has anyone got any suggestions for an amp and sub, with balance of quality and price?

im gathering itll be same as 6 x 9 if you have 7 x 10 (never heard of that size) but if you are having a sub and amp you will have to get rid of the 7 x 10 mainly cos with that amount of boot space and 2 systems fighting for the same area you are gonna get distortion especially when loud.

Plenty of threads about this

Basically you are gonna decide to have one or the other

EDIT - Chaos got in before me, please comment on abaove Dai if all this ive wrote is crap or not :D

well i would preffer the 7x10's but what about amping them up, the speakers are 320 W Peak Input Power

Nah, its right John (y) You'll destroy the 7x10 cones in a short amount of time due to the air pressures produced by the sub if both are run in the same enclosure e.g. the bootspace.

That's worse than having them 7x10s in the first place (n).

theres nothing wrong with 7 x 10 but if you run a sub and amp alongisde them, either the sub and amp combo or the 7x 10 is gonna sound crap cos they are fighting for the same airspace in such a small area

Whats wrong with 7x10's?

*FAO Regulars, this is a 'why 6x9s/7x10s/rear speakers in general are bad' type post ;)

One question - do you go to watch a band at a concert, and turn your back on them so the sound is coming from behind you? Of course you don't. Its a similar principle here :).

Well, you have the sound coming towards you from the front - so why would you want sound coming from behind you in your car?
