Hi everyone, first time post. I've got my eye on a 2000 Ducato, 2.8D with 110K miles.

I'd be having an inspection done before purchase but I'd really appreciate hearing from current owners too. How is the parts availability on Ducatos from this era? Are they easy to keep going? Should I run like hell or is it worth investigating further?

Thanks very much for any input

Make sure no rust

Check mileage genuine
When cambelt etc last changed
Drive it to see if you like the way it drives

If it is non turbo it is very low power and low torque.
Possibly a real chore to drive.
May not be economical.
It is 22 years old.

hi markburgle, . i own and run a 1996 1.9td. not the most powerful van but adequate. capable or 70mph, tours comfortably at 60-65mph. as already stated, rust is your worst enemy. most mechanical parts are still available. check habitation for damp. front crossmember often rusts through but are available. i could go on and on. if you decide to buy make sure to give it a thorough going over on a ramp if possible. 2nd gear syncromesh is weak and often fails. remember. this forum is always available for help. all the best. ian

Thanks for the info everyone. Was defs worried about the lack of turbo on it, I had an Iveco Daily which was down to 35mph on some hills, v unnerving on motorways! Good to know about parts availability though
