Technical Anti roll bar...

Technical Anti roll bar...

Right, now that I have the bar..... Am I right to say that, assuming it fits around the sump guard, I.....

loosen and remove the tie rods from the car,
Refit the new tie rod bars onto the car with the roll bar attached,
Pray

Seems almost too simple there. Badly explained too lol.

The roll bar is literally only attached to the suspension via the four brackets off the lower suspension arm. That is my understanding at least.

Any thoughts are appreciated,

Cheers,
Si

From what you say and from the eper screen shot that sounds about right for fitting.
It's worth pointing out, (though i'm sure you're aware!) that if you use your Panda offroad the anti-roll bar will reduce the articulation at the front reducing it's offroading capabilities!

Sound advice of course.

BTW, you will need to jack car up and take both front wheels off. When I did it a while ago to another panda, I fitted the tie rods first, put it on its wheels and "added" the bar. Can't think why your way wouldn't work though. Good luck.

Yes, she isnt getting a huge amount of off roading at the moment. Time, and concern over corrosion on her belly are the main reasons. Its more of an experiment at this stage.

One thing that I am concerned over is if the roll bar would be damaged at all if I were to traverse some rounded terrain and load one front wheel but not the other. Any thoughts there guys?

Thanks for the confirmations too. Seems like its a bit similar to skinning a cat...

Cheers,
Si

The way I understand it is that the anti rol bar is a spring which reduces the roll of the car induced by high speed cornering... Off road I reckon it'll be a liability and you'd be better off without it. Surely when traversing anything difficult you'll want all wheels securely on the deck; an anti roll bar will be trying to prevent this as its job is to keep the wheels in plane with the car on tarmac....... I might be wrong tho..

All the best Si,

Luke. (y)

You're absolutely right. It's just a spring that resists one wheel going up whilst the other goes down. But all that said plenty of serious offroaders come with anti-roll bars, in those cases it will always be a popular mod to remove them to gain some off road peformance and better cross-axling potential for bumpy terrain, however if you're rarely offroad go for it!

Have you tried it yet Si? I'm thinking of trying to source one for mine. Does anyone know the price from Fiat?

Prices seem to go up every month with FIAT at the moment, but it breaks down like this:

Roll bar: £58.75
Tie-rod bars: £24.85 x 2
Bush retainers: £10.41 x2 & £5.58 x 2
Bushes: £5.75 x 2 & £4.94 x 2

Total: 161.71

This assumes you will re-use all your ti-rod bushes and find your own bolts and nuts.
