Another thread on amps + batteries

Right then, I'm wishing to power up my subwoofer shortly using an amplifier I got today. When wiring the fused power lead to the battery (for the amp), should I..

> Disconnect neutral batt connection then live batt connection.

or

> Disconnect live batt connection and leave neutral in place.

or

> Other?! (if so.. what? ).

Oh and another daft question.. presummably its perfectly safe to discon the live connection to the batt? ... as in, I'm not gonna get a nasty shock if all car devices/engine are off?

Always disconnect the neg terminal first. If you try to disconnect the pos terminal and slip, the WHOLE car is neg and its very likely that you will short the spanner to something.

Once the neg terminal is off there is no need to remove the other terminal unless you are going to take the batt out.
