Was on my way back home from MITcar, only 5 minutes from home, over the back roads of West Yorkshire. Changed down to second gear to go round a tight bend, accelerated out and changed to third. As soon as I hit third, BOOM! Smoke and oil pooring out of the back, bits of metal flying around
My first thought was big engine failure, but it was still running. Then I looked at under the car and it was pooring with oil, with a trail down the road behind. On a better look, it is a gearbox failure. A hole has been ripped in the casing causing all the oil to come gushing out Got the RAC out, also a possibility of a blown differential just got in, dont really know what to do with it, is it worth repairing??
