General Another Broken Spring w/photos

Just when I thought I escaped the curse, heard a metallic rattling when going over bumps in the road. The spring on the driver side had snapped and been caught by the recall bracket. No big bang or drop when it went, spring broke not even a whole turn up from the bottom.

Theres a patch of rust like metal that streches about 1/3 in through the diameter of the spring, a mate reckons due to poor materials.

Any other ideas? Ill quickly post some pics up.

If theres similar threads to this sorry I havent got time to search yet, will do later. Thought the pics might help other cases though.

BTW its a 3dr 2002 Stilo JTD, about 85000miles on the clock

There's just a few threads on this

Once the spring outer protective covering is worn away and the elements get in there it's doomed
Almost always the same place too, that's why the broken spring catcher is there

I got mine replaced just in time as the outer covering is already gone as you can see here

A lot of other Stilo owners have matching bits to yours
