Tried to use my wife's set of keys this morning, but found out her Marea key is broken.

The transponder and key work fine, but the button is broken off the PCB inside meaning I can't arm and disarm the immobiliser with it.

Is there a definitive guide somewhere to reprogramming Fiat CODE alarm keys?

I don't fancy paying Fiat 80 quid for a new key - I'd prefer to get a 2nd hand key and swap the PCB into my key and reprogramme, if this is possible.

I have the 'full set', ie. 1 red and 2 blue keys, so I assume this is possible.

Cheers, Steve.

It doesn't arm or disarm the immobiliser just the alarm.

Have you tried soldering the button back on or is it beyond repair?

Fiat can cut and reprogram another key for around £75. But you will need the code for the key. Its a 4digit code.

What about repairing the one you've got.If you are proficient with a soldering iron, and can source another switch (either catalogue or scrap key) it should be possible to replace the old one. Then there is no need for reprogramming.

Of course your original plan is also sound, except that there have been many tales of woe on this forum about not being able to reprogram the fiat alarm. We only get to hear of the problems on here, so its probably scaremongering, and mostly it probably does program, but you might want to do a bit of research first!

I'm useless at soldering such small parts, so that's not an option, especially as the button has gone missing.... so the best way would appear to be reprogramming.

Any links for the procedure - there's so many mentions of this on the forum that it would take me all day to find the info I need, if it's there.

Cheers,

You can program them yourself. You program a minimum of two keys with the red key.

Put the red key in (dont start it) to open up the ecu / immobiliser, turn it, when the code light goes off switch off, then do the same with two blue keys. Then do the same with the red key to close down.

Thanks for that.

Now all I need to do is find a pair of spare keys.

Heh, cheers, I'd seen that one myself.

Don't really want ot go through the process using my working blue key in case it does go wrong..... so I need another disposable key, too.
