Hi, joined a week or two ago and have found you folk very informative and very helpful - thank you.

I have now agreed the purchase of a March 2017 registered, 500 Lounge Dualogic and hope to collect on Thursday. Am then faced with a close-to 200 mile return to home - having never previously driven a 500 semi-auto.

Now into my mid-70s after a lifetime of car loving and caring, the 500 is my fun car to take me into and beyond my dotage - my wife and her car will take me further afield if necessary, or maybe I'll be taking her as the 500 sounds a fun car to drive.

That's enough from me for now - I've already started with a query on the most basic element ... how to start a Dualogic .

It will almost certainly have stop:start

Maybe turn that OFF for the first few trips.


You will have read that the car is a MANUAL

But with a 'robot working the clutch and gearstick.

Thank you varesecrazy - yes, I've read that and am intrigued, haven ridden in a 500 briefly but not driven one.

My query in the 500 section relates to starting the engine for the first time - will I find the gear stick in N at the top of the gate?

So ... foot on brake (as with all autos) start engine and then select mid-position between + and - ? Switch off in that mid position and then return stick to N - thereby leaving a gear engaged? Sorry to be so naive - you'd never guess I've been driving for 56 years and driving automatics at least 20! Duh.

I see you are near the M4 - I'll be coming down the M23, then M25 and then M4 - happy days once I'm on the M4. Then all the way home - and yippee, no toll on the bridge .
