Hello from Brazil, guys!
Well, I know I'm veeery very late, but here I am! For the beggining, I'd like to say (what I'm sure that you all now it) that this is the best-known and maybe the best Internet Forum about Fiat all around the Web!
My ride must be kinda a mistery to you. The easy part is that it's a "Nuova" Bravo (198) fitted to the world reknowed C510 Dualogic Gearbox.
The "surprise factor" is the engine! Named E.TorQ, it was developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies here in Brazil, using the old Mini One/Cooper (R50/52/53) engine, Tritec, as a starting point. Actually they're both produced at the same factory in Campo Largo, Paraná (Brazil) and E.TorQ is something like 80% new comparing to the almost great Tritec (some guys say that Tritec is even stronger than Prince).
As it's a brazilian-built and developed engine, of course it's flex-fuel to. In other words, it can burn 100% pure petrol, 100% pure ethanol or any other mix of them.
At the moment, both 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter are offered, always with the SOHC 16V head. 1.6's bore and stroke are the same as Tritec one: 77 mm x 85,8 mm. The 1.8-liter one maintains the same stroke with a 80,5 mm bore. The great thing about this engine is that 80% of the torque is avaible at low 1,500 rpm and 93 % is avaible just at 2,500 rpm, it's such a elastic unit! Other great point is that every single performance part made for Mini fits E.TorQ (least the pistons on the 1.8-liter version)!
Well, back to Bravo, we brazilians can't buy diesel-powered cars unless they're all wheel drive AND able to carry at least 2,200 pounds, so it's only offered with the 1.4-liter 16V Turbo T-JET (that isn't powered with the Multiair system yet), producing 152 PS and 225 nm and the 1.8-liter 16V E.TorQ Flex, that produces 130/132 PS and 181/184 nm (with petrol and ethanol, respectively).
Bravo debuted here in late-2010 as 2011 model and the trims availble were Essence (the entry-level, E.TorQ-powered in both 5-speed manual or Dualogic gerabox), Absolute (the top-level, E.TorQ-powered in both 5-speed manual or Dualogic gearbox) and T-JET (the sport-level, bviously T-JET-powered and only offered with the C635 6-speed manual gearbox). From MY-2013, the Sporting trim is avaible, based on Essence but sharing some parts with T-JET as the sport seats, the suspension and the body-kit, but maintaing E.TorQ and C510 (manual or Dualogic).
Other great improvement released in MY-2013 is what Fiat Automóveis do Brasil call as Dualogic Plus. Now, Dualogic is even smoother and has three more important functions: Creeping, Parabolic Shift Gear and Auto-up Shift Abort. The first one is a great-known resource from the traditional automatic transmission: when you release the brake pedal, the car starts to move slowly. The second one is related to a electronically-controled leaps smoothing, now they're only felt on sport driving, just to enhace the feeling of sportinees. Finally, the last one is based on how much power do you need: if the pressure discharge on the accelerator pedal is high, the system recognizes the need for power and lower a gear to provide torque (Example: 5th goes down to 4th gear). If the pressure is low, the gear is kept
Telling my Bravo's history, I know some people from Betim's factory and one of these guys offered my to request any car I wanted, so it would be use as press car for two years and then sold to me. So did I! I ordered a top-line Absolute Dualogic, with all the optionals that I could buy, least the front parking sensor (here the 18' wheels and the Xenon Headlights are disponible only for the T-JET trim)! That means that my car has:
- Seven airbags
- Skydome electrical sunroof
- RadioNAV (that 6,5' display, I don't know it's name there!)
- Black leather seats
- HiFi sound system with Subwoofer
- Dualtemp air conditioning systenm
- Paddle shifters
- Cruise control
- Auto-diming internal mirror
- Rear parking sensor
- Rain sensor
- Light sensor
- Dualdrive steering system
- 17' wheels + 215/45 R17 Pirelli P7 tires
- Tire pressure sensor
- Auto-folding external mirrors
Talking a little bit about the color, I don't know if it was offered there in Europe! It's name is Grey Tellurium, and looks like a metalic bronze, it's beautiful! I NEVER saw other Bravo with the same packge as mine. I already saw some Grey Tellurium and I saw very equiped ones too, but none of them was top line nor top line AND Grey Tellurium!
As I work travelling, now it has such a high mileage: 50,000 miles (we measure in kilometers here, what is 80,000 km!). And what impress me at most is how the car still running as it was brand new!
So folks, that's it! Hope you enjoy this brazilian intruder ride over here!
CHEERS!
PS.: Sorry about the bad quality photos guy, better ones are coming soon!!
