Technical Ambient temperature problem

My daughter has a 2012 Fiat 500 Active. The ambient temperature display has been fluctuating massively so I assumed a faulty sensor. I ordered a replacement off eBay which I have connected up but now I don’t get any reading on the dash at all. I have just twisted wires and tried a joint strip but neither make a difference. I have tried wiring both ways round as well.

I checked a few fuses which I thought might be linked and they are ok.

I checked the sensor and did get a resistance reading (can’t remember exactly but around 30k ohms if I recall.

Has anyone got any ideas?
Could it be a dud sensor or something else?

Did you measure the old one? If you've got one stick a 1k resistor across the leads

You can buy a genuine fiat one that maybe simpler given you don't know the original resistance value? Someone posted the part number recently I think

Cheers, got it sorted. Was a dirty and loose connection on the plug in the mirror.
