Online quotes will always be daft anyway for that sort of car. Your best bet is to buy some rag like max power/revs etc and ring some of the specialist insurers that advertise in the back pages.
Alternatively, if you've got space to store it, buy the Turbo but keep it off the road - that way it doesn't need insuring (although obviously you won't be able to drive it!), and you can get it in mint condition while building up some more no claims on your other car. That's what I'm doing with my Capri - by the time I finish uni it'll be cheap to insure it and the car will be like new :D

From my experience, it was actually more expensive going for specialist ones...

As for getting a turbo Uno70, I think you are dreaming. Stick with your uno 70 for now, gain your no claims bonus and get driving experience. The uno's are fairly nippy anyway so learn to control the car. If you jump straight into the turbo, you'll run the risk (being a new driver) of not being able to control the power and you'll smash it up. Not nice when you've spent all that money on it...

In short, just stick with your uno now and do that up - gain experience on how to do certain mods etc without running the risk of killing your pride and joy. Get no claims up, wait till your a fair bit older then get what you want :)

Thats exactly what im doing, im stuck with my 5 door uno. Not perfectly keen on it but i'm 19 and have 1 years no claims(insurance is still very high). I'll just do this up so i know how to do certain things that i'd want to do on my turbo. I'm personally waiting till im about 22(ish) (finished uni by then) so i can afford a mint turbo and insurance, and enjoy the car. If you want one that much, its worth waiting for IMO :) Its annoying i forewell know, but you have to make the most with what you've got...

I first got my uno turbo when i was 18.

I had 1 years NCD, and my insurance was 1300 quid a year TPFT from TRIDENT insurance, Elephant.co.uk might be better.

I live in london, and in a high crime area, with immobiliser on my car and parked off road.

My '45 is costing me £1300 to insure (may have something to do with me managing to write off an 18 year old Nissan but who knows :p ) ATM I'm building up my NCD which means making do for a few years... I too would love an Uno with a bit more power (yours in fact, uno70 (y) ) but I just think it better to deal with what I have until I've taken my insurance right down...

Buy it, store it until you can afford to enjoy it... You will not enjoy it as much, if you spend every spair penny you have on it.
