Technical alternator

Hi guys,

The Croma,s just come up to 60k,has been parked up for 3 weeks with no use.Come to start it last weekend to go for a run out and theres a whining noise from around the engine area.I thought alternator,but shortly after it stopped.Brillant these things are" self healers" i thought.But next day exactly the same thing.Also a burning smell from around the alternator area,but because the ambient temp has been so hot last week the fans are running most of the time but on slow speed so its a bit hard to tell were its coming from.I got an alternator this week,but christ what a job it looks on the 2.4.I havint done it yet.Will it come out without dropping the engine.lol Any good ideas please.

Good luck Seth, I changed the belt on mine last year and that was bad enough...I reckon the easiest way might be to (simply) drop the aircon condenser and radiator then work from underneath. Hope this helps.
