Technical alternator belt change

My alternator belt broke this morning and i am having trouble fitting the new belt.i cannot move the tensioning pulley to get the new belt on.i have taken the tensioner off and found that is is spring loaded but i still cannot get it to move.any ideas on how to fit a new belt

What engine?
If you have a manual tensioner, make sure that the slots on the barrel line up correctly. If it is a cam type tensioner you need an allen key to turn it.

thanks polecat,my engine is 110 jtd and it has got a spring loaded tensioner,nothing like the ones you discribe.
anyway i will try my best,got to go to work tomorrow. :bang: :bang:
