definitely standard parking in ItalyIn Milan during the weekend you can find car parked everywhere, you would be amazed.
You need to remember that most attempts at traffic control - double white lines, no parking, pedestrian precinct, speed limits, daytime running lights, and so on - are purely advisory in Italy.
Can fully understand what you are saying, As a pedestrian I tried to cross the road at a designated crossing point in Naples, needless to say the traffic ignored me, I did not want to take my life in my hands, so gave up.![]()
I remember being a passenger in a car driving south from Rome towards Calabria (the "Toe"). Waking from a nap I thought the motorway looked unusual - it took me a minute or two to realise that it had been recently resurfaced, but that they had not bothered to paint any white lines to show the lanes and keep the traffic separated.
Only in Italy.

That's quite common - and the traffic is usually better-behaved on those stretches than on marked-up ones.
In general I'm quite accustomed to the driving habits in Italy but the one thing that still scares me s--tless is motor bikes going at very high speeds and crossing from lane to lane at random.
