Best way to do them with the tyres still on is to completely deflate them.

Dave

Im doing fine with the tyres on and inflated. Two tyres I masked up so I didn't get spray paint on them as they are brand new, the other 2 I dodn't because I've 2 new tyres to go on them. The guide should be up by about Tuesday/Wednesday circumstances permitting.

The place I was talking to strips them using an overnight acid dip, they then chuck them on the lathe to remove damage, Alu weld serious damage and fix dents and distortion, finally they powder coat them or whatever finish you require so you can see the need to remove the tyre if you are having that level of repair done - they need them for about 5 days to complete the Obviously you can do a certain amount with the tyre on.

Well I would have had the tyres off personally but its more cost :( My rims weren't too badly damaged that I couldn't sort them or make them as good as I possibly can. Ok there are still some imperfections that a full refurb would do away with, but you pay the price for it :)

An update for any body interested in the guide. All wheels primered, 2 have a coat of the new colour on and they look sooooo nice. Hopefully I can get them lacquered by sunday, and two tyred and balanced by tuesday.

I don't see how you can get a proper quality refurb with the tyre still on. The place I've been talking to charge £5 to refit and balance tyres. They charge nothing to take them off because they need to do this to strip, repair and repaint the wheel correctly.

Romax in Stockton-upon-Tees are the same. They manage to turnaround in under 5 days although they don't have the aluminium welding facilities. Fiver to re-tyre and balance (but they are very careful about it)

UPDATE: All alloys have been given their coats of paint and if I do say myself I think they look amazing! Lacquer will almost definately be on tomorrow and then the job's practically a good 'un :D

I'll give you a sneaky preview of progress so far, but the final colour and lacquer pics have to wait I'm afraid.:p

I was going to but they are too big to be inserted into the actual guide. The larger final picture i added further down's pretty good detail no? And Thanks for the compliment on my work, I'm pretty chuffed with the quaity myself :D
