just picked up a set of 15'' hlx alloys for my 1.4sx. i was checking the owners manual to see what tyres fit these rims and i noticed that it said that the steel wheel bolts are not compatible with alloys. where do i get new bolts, at the fiat dealer? if so, how much are they? is it possible to get away with the original bolts? can anyone shed some light on this subject for me please?

Cheers

You might be able to but i wouldn't. Reason being is the tapper is different on the alloy. The nuts/bolts will have a slopped tapper to mathch that of the alloy where as the standard bolt will be flat up against the steel and when on the alloy will scratch it to buggery and will probably only get 2/3 turns on it - mot fail.

New bolt from your dealer should be a few quid each. You can get locaking ones as well, not sure from dealer but 30 quid for Mcguard at Halfords

Re: Re: Re: Alloy Wheel Help

putting steel and aluminium together can sometimes cause a reaction resulting in corrosion as well.
