Technical Alleged Turbo Failure

That's a shame, but I fear a reflection of the complexity of modern TD's and resilience when deployed in what is supposed to be a budget motor. I hope the TA engine proves reliable, or it's anorher 1.2 Fire for the next Panda.

An update.
Wastegate actuator was completely seized so a recon turbo was the only option.
Apparently removal was difficult as everything corroded in place.
As a result, a bill of £1000 at a turbo specialist and I think they were honest with me.
Secondary result, complete disillusionment with turbo diesels and Fiats with any high-tec components (I would still happily live with, for example, a Panda 1.1 Active!).
So, looking forward to delivery of my base model, petrol-engined, 4WD Dacia Duster in the new year.

Don't blame Fiat technology (everyone's using it!) or turbo diesels, if you look on ebay recon turbos are available for the well used and proven 1.3 engine from £189. I fitted one recently purchased for £381+vat from a dealership.

I would have said the same, 1k is simply too much to pay. Always shop around :)
