I've got a pair of Alfa 147 handles that I'm planning to fit on my Fiat Bravo 1.2 16V -00. Driver's door was broken into so this is a "great" excuse to finally go ahead with installing :)

So, I've got a broken driver's side door lock (and handle) that I need to replace with an Alfa 147 chrome one. Question: is the Alfa door lock (cylinder) identical to the one found on Bravo? I know the handles need some adjusting (http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/mod-a-bravo.htm#alfahandles) but how about the door lock, is it a straight swap?

It's just that I have a working Alfa 147 door lock already inside the (Alfa) handle so I'd just need to decode the lock cylinder to make it fit my existing key.

Cheers!

lock barrel dimensions are the same, but the 147 used 2 types of key depending on age and both of them are different to the type of key used on the bravo (although the early 147 key is very similar, it is the same as mk2 punto keys). you can use any bravo/a door lock barrel and grind or file the tumblers down so it fits your key, just stick your key in the barrel and then file down any protruding tumblers, very easy job.

Thanks, jug! Is this something a professional could do if I just take the Alfa door lock/handle and my Bravo key to them? Or do I need parts from Bravo lock as well (undamaged lock barrel)?

I took the Alfa handle to a car lock specialist here in Helsinki, Finland and he said that the particular lock cannot be decoded to fit my Bravo key. So I guess I still need to find an undamaged Bravo/a door lock barrel? Or maybe a complete lock set and forget using parts from Alfa lock?

Then again, he also said said that Alfa 147 handles cannot be fitted on Bravo :D

as i said you cant modify the alfa lock barrel because both the 147 keys were different to the bravo/a keys.

you need a bravo or brava or marea door lock barrel, any will do.
