Help!!!! Stilo 2.4 Abarth 5 door 2002, just had my cam belt changed, including tensioner and bearing replaced, when i went to collect the car the garage said i need i new fan belt + altenator belt, they had not had the time to get the 2 belts and change them, suggested i take it back yesterday 9th Aug 08 as the garage said it was only about 1 hours work. I took it back as requested he replaced the bigger of the 2 belts but was unable to suss out how to change the smaller of the 2 belts, it's the one that goes from the air con pump to the alternator, this belt is starting to fray and i am worried that it will fail. Does anyone out there know how to replace this belt??? This poor mechanic was very embarrased, he had loosened the alternator and air con pump but was still unable to change the belt. So i am driving my car and very worried that the belt is going to fail at any time. Any help would be most welcome. Many thanks. :bang:

Cut the old belt off and the new one is strech fit to put it on. There is no tensioner to slacken off which probably confused him. It just streaches over the pullies.

I'd cut it off NOW if you're in the least worried and it sounds as if you are. Rightly so for if that one snaps it can wrap itself up into the cambelt area and do exactly what you were trying to prevent by having your cambelt and tensioner changed i.e wreck the engine

If your aircon belt is just going from the crank pulley to the aircon compressor (that's the same as mine) then it'll do no harm to drive with it removed. They aren't re useable and it was daft of the mechanic to put the old belt back on as they are a stretch and one time fit.
