Alarm problems PART2 **UPDATED**

Right then, I have spent most of today stripping the passanger wing to get to the alarm box, loosing the bolts that hold the alarm to braket in the process. I have stripped the alarm unit down and found no signs of dry solder or loose wires. It looks Perfect, like Brand New. Still no noise coming from the unit so put the problem down the pezo siren failing.

Now I come to the point....

Anyone know how much a new alarm unit is from fiat? or would it be cheaper for an aftermarket one,if so which one (make and model) and how much am I looking at???

Any help is apreciated peeps.

did you try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes like i said in your earlier post?

Yep.

I disconnected battery for a good 30mins.

Also disconected backup batteries from alarm unit to reset it and.....

Nothing.

The circuit part I think is working fine, it passes diagnosis and relay clicks in out like it supose too.

I've repaired the sounder on my Marea (same unit) - was just a broken wire on the voice coil. Cost to fix - £ 0.00

@Pete,

Was is a wire inside the voice coil or the 2 wires the come from the voice coil to the circuit board??

The two wires from the voice unit to the pcb look perfect, no dry solder or loose connection but I never thought to opened up the siren.

My problem was one of the hair-thin wires from the voice coil itself to the 2 silver braided wires had broken off. Managed to solder it back on ok.

Measure the resistance of the sounder itself, should be 8 ohms or thereabouts.

UPDATE:

Reset the alarm = Nothing

Checked conections = Nothing

Stripped the siren to bits = Wires firmly on and Nothing.

Conclusion - Left the alarm in bits in a plastic bag.

Just bought a new clifford with boot popper and window closure as extras. Getting fitted Sat Afternoon

How much did that cost you, where from, and what model? and you'l have to tell me if its any good, my alarm f*cked up recently so im gonna get an electrician to take a look, if no luck there im gonna buy a clfford

The alarm was very cheap. Only £149 fully fitted at home. Clifford viper plus ultrasonic's for inside of car FOC.

Sorry Not clifford viper. Its made by Clifford but they just call it the Viper. Don't know why??

With all the window closer and door popper it came to 260 fully fitted.

Problem for you Seb is that he only does my area, South Yorkshire and Nottingham.

Had a clifford before (costing me 300quid) and that was brilliant. This has all the features of this plus some.
