Alarm - Beeping Twice???

This has happened before, i know when you set the alarm and it beeps twice it means thete is a problem with the alarm system - can anyone suggest where?

Ive checked both doors, boot and bonnet, and they all seem to be fine (last time i had this problem it was the bonnet - the alarm must have thought it was still open) and it went away after i had a bit play with it. Ive tried that and its still not having it.

Its been really bad weather the last few days, could there be water in the electronics somewhere - anyone suggest where???

I thought when it beeps twice it means that the alarm is de-activated, and one longish beep to activate the alarm!!?

Yeah it does, but when there is a fault with the alarm system, it lets you know by giving a second long beep after the first long beep when you activate the alarm.

So instead of going 'beeeeeeeeeeeeep'

Mine goes 'beeeeeeeeeeeeep' 'beeeeeeeeeeeeep'

Keith,

The two beeps are mean to let you know that either one of the doors, the boot or the bonnet are not closed properly.

However, it also give 2 beeps if the bulb has gone in the boot light. Check this first.

Hmmm, which bulb do you mean, the one built into the boot on the right hand side that should light up when you open the boot, if so, ive never had a bulb in there, there wasnt one when i bought the car and its not something i ever think of when im out.

I'll try putting a bulb in there, but the fact its been ok for the last 4 - 5 months would suggest it matters not if theres a bulb there or not???

Hmm, Replacing that bulb stopped my alarm beeping twice.

We may have a case of the dreaded 'fiat electrics' here.

I move house tonight/tomorrow and i need this like i need a hole in the head.

Out of curiosity, is the alarm actually active even when it beeps twice

if you set the alarm then open the boot with the key i wonder if it works.

Im gonna go try now - may have dried out slightly now as it hasnt rained for a while

Fiat electrics indeed

Opened the boot and the alarm went off, which is strange because the last time i set it it deffinently beeped twice

Shut the boot and relocked the car and it only beeped once, it must be the bad weather, as i recall it was very bad weather last time it wasnt working too
