Started MoHo today and was greeted by the airbag warning light. Van is 5 years 1 month old with just under 21,000 miles.

Washed it yesterday. Wife's handbag on passenger seat when started. Starter battery is float charged at 12.5v continuously. Van not used for one week.

I had a ABS issue on daughters 2010 Punto Evo that was caused by passenger seat occupancy sensor fault. Can you read any codes from the OBD plug?

Has your van been in a area of high humidity or spilled fluid on floor to left of peddles? (washed leaking windsceen?)
Does the battery hold a charge?
Can you read any codes preferably with Multiecuscan or Alfaobd.
Have a search. your option may only be a new ECU or send away to a company to be "reset" with no guarentee and repeat in 2 weeks, or be lucky.

Mine did same about a week ago, we went out this weekend in it and called in to my local garage for him to put it on machine and it come back as B0100 code which is bad news it needs a new air bag control unit. Seems like a lot of Ducatos are doing it for some unknown reason

I will have to buy multiecuscan I guess, shame as it means I'll have to buy a Windows PC too. I will ring Gendan tomorrow.

If you have an android phone alfaobd maybe a cheaper alternative but multiecuscan is my preferred option due to the amount of support available.

It's nice to be in the company of other Linux users.
I contacted Gendan today asking about alternatives to MultiECUScan, they suggested a Foxwell NT530. What do others think?
Gendan doesn't seem to specifically recommend Foxwell NT530 for Fiat, unlike multiscan, to be honest until you mentioned I had never heard of it.
I have a basic Launch CReader7, a neighbours later version and a friends Snap On Zeus I have access to where I take my MOTs, between them they cover most of my needs since retiring, although as I said earlier if they did a Linux version of the full Multiscan for Fiat I would probably buy it.
The last Windows version I bought was Win 7 and from Windows for Workgroups 3.11?on, generally I was happier with their NT version for stability.
Once I got used to it, although no way an expert, Linux Mint seemed to be the answer for me. I built my own PCs from 286 on as I got fed up with rip off computer shops and PCs are largely "meccano" so whilst I can understand the mechanics of them, I haven't a clue re programming. I have great respect for those that can rewrite ECU chips etc.

I have received my multiecuscan kit from Gendan. It has two usb leads, one a red lead is in a bag with a label that says once opened I can't have a full refund. Running the Multiecuscan free software tells me I need to use the ELM lead which is the red one. Should I open it to to scan the Airbag group or have I miss understood? There is also a note that 2017 + vehicles have a security gateway module and my van was registered Oct 2017.

Thanks

Use the red usb cable and the free version of the software. (your 2017 ducato does not have the security gateway module) connect initially to the engine. once it all works you can register the software. then try doing a full scan or connecting to other modules. some ask for the yellow adaptor (inc airbag)
F3 will show you error messages take a screen shot with each item highlighted.
to clear errors press F10 or click on button on bottom right hand side.

@theoneandonly , thanks for your help.
After some initial problems (my fault) I have the below. I guess that means ordering a new airbag module which I prefer over a repaired one, unless someone can advice me better.

Try clearing the errors 3 times.
If problem persists then best option is a new unit.

Today I tried clearing fault a number of times, no luck, I still have the same fault code.

I'll probably order a new one from Fiat.

I am going to order a new starter battery too, even though it hasn't shown sign of failing yet. Its been in the van a little over 5 years but if it is failing I wouldn't want it to take out a new airbag module.

I will do that.

After replacing the airbag module do I just write the original/copied proxi file back?
No, you do a new proxi alignment.

body can setup /proxi alignment F10
F7
F10
read notes press Y to continue
