Hey All

I'm new to this forum and registered as I am having problems with my punto and was hoping someone might be able to help.

I have a Fiat Punto Active Sport 2002 model and am having a couple of problems.

Firstly my airbag light is always on. When I brought my car from a local garage it was under warranty for the first year and went back to the garage three times. But the garage didn’t have a clue and each time just wiped the airbag light of the display with the computer.

Secondly, the Engine light has also decided to come on the display. I looked in my hand book and it says it is probably due to the engine emissions.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Big thank you in advance.

I have an '02 Stilo 1.6, which seems to be having similar problems to yours. From what I'm reading on the site, it seems that it's to do with the airbag sensors under the seat and wear and tear on the wiring. User "Deckchair5" posted a solution for a Stilo. It may help.

Yes go to the Punto section as the procedure to get rid of the problem will no doubt be different to the stilo and the guys there will know how to sort your problem out :)

Assuming the re-occuring error is passenger airbag exclusion switch no/intermittent signal(or signal not feasible) then there is a cheap(fiver)additional wiring modification that will cure this for good, its no good just clearing the errors, however this modification is to be done by dealers only so expect £30 odd labour.Tell your garage (assuming ts a Fiat dealer) to check their 'service news bulletins' more regular.

Engine warning light could be anything & really needs to go onto Fiat examiner diagnostic equipment.
