Hi all, I'm a new owner of a 2012 x250. I've had it for a few days and SM slowly getting through the issues from the last owner.
One thing in struggling with is this, I think there is a section of the air intake missing which is leading to air from the engine bay being brought into the cab. I've attached a picture showing where the piece should connect to the intake body, can anybody give me a part number?

Thanks

I cannot be sure from your photo but it looks to me like a drain hose should connect to it. It drains water that gets into the air inlet to the rear of the gear box.

Hi

I agree with rayc. The previous generation models had the air intake via vent slits in the top of the bonnet. Air then passed down into a large plastic box, then the air was drawn back upwards through a coarse mesh filter. Any water that came in fell down by gravity and was drained via a large bore hose. It's important that this hose is long enough to discharge behind the gearbox, and not on top of it, as water entering the gearbox is bad news.

In a similar vein, water that comes down the windscreen into the plastic "trough" (scuttle) is led away by at least one large bore hose. These have a tendency to fall off, adding a Jubilee clip will stop this. Some owners, myself included, have added extra drain hoses to keep water off the top of the engine etc. This is a particular issue with vehicles that are parked for long periods (like motorhomes) as there is less ventilation/movement/heat to dry things out.

Ok, thanks I'll check the scuttle for drainage and add extra if needed. The van has not done many miles in the last 4 years so this might be an issue as the "check glow plugs" message is showing on the dash 🙈...

I have found the part number that I think I need for the intake drain but can't find any in stock anywhere so might have to go to fiat for it, unless anybody knows of any ducatos in scrap yards round Bristol? I need a few other bits like drivers sun visor and and a vent cover.
