air conditioning not working

I have a Fiat bravo HLX (2000) fitted with air conditioning that has given me lots of trouble. The air conditioning works for few months after it has been refilled with gas. I suspect a gas leak but the Fiat approved garage tells me that the Bravo needs recharging every year... Do you have a similar experience? Do you think that the garage is telling me the whole story? I have an extended guarantee on this car which is going to run out shortly.
I would really appreciate some feedback.

I'd go to a specialist air con place and get it leak checked, a main dealer won't have the required kit to do that.

I have had mine 2 years and never needed refilling

Try tapping the dashboard where the 'lo' temperature is that should cure it.
Mine sometimes blows out warm air just tap the dash and it will be cold.
