Help me please!! I have fiat grande punto 56 reg 1.2 petrol, the air con/heater was fine blowing out cold air on this great sunny day and then as I went to turn it down as my friend was on the phone it stopped when I wanted it back on!
Don't know where the fuses are if that's what's gone or not sure what's wrong with it

hi

simple test ...(have actually just mention this on a previous reply 2 mins ago lol de ja vu )

anyway pop the bonnet ,start the engine ,,temp switch to cold ,fan to speed 4 aircon and recirculation switch on..now go to front of car and with in a couple on mins the rad cooling fan should run at half speed, which will prove that the aircon is working ...also 1 aircon pipe will be very hot and the other very cold ...if the fan doesn't kick in then as previously said the resistor pack will be duff...it's situated top right of fan cowl under coolant resovoir ...it's 1 plug ,and held in by a torx screw ,only costs £18,takes 2 mins to fit ,also i would get the system recharged ,as no manufacturer actually fills the system fully ,hence companies like kwik fit can state they won't charge you if they can't make your car colder.also you loose about 15% of gas a year...grandes take 500,learned that when i recently did an aircon course, used my grande as a gunea pig ...and suprisingly it was nearly empty ..it then passed the vacumn test etc and hasn't lost a bit in 4 month

apologies
think i misread your problem and then waffled on about aircon..i take it that it's the fan in the car isn't working

I had this problem.
I found that the connector that powers the fan is a very poor fit.
It is also located in the passenger footwell and the cables are very exposed to anyone with big feet.

Many people have had issues with this burning out and the harness has to be replaced.

I think i was lucky that mine wasn't damaged.
To fix this i took the fan out (3 simple screws and one piece of ducting).
Removed the cable connector. On the fan there are two male connectors - gave these a small twist so that they were slightly off line.
This then required the connector to be a very tight fit when attached to the fan unit.
Fan now works perfectly - also gives out more flow as the conections were so bad previously it was as if the fan was underpowered when it was running.
