For the last 2 years I've had to take it in to be refilled, and both times they have checked for leaks and found none.

Despite this, it has run out of "COLD" again. The pump is working cause i can see the revs drop when i turn it off, but the air just doesn't get cold.

Is there anything is should check for lads? Cause i feel that im just wasting my money, for a few months of air con before it disappears.

I changed the pollen filter last week, also did sod all!

The tickover revs will automatically rise/ drop when you turn the a/c on/off regardless of whether the compressor engages or not so first port of call is checking if the compressor clutch is engaging. Listen for it - it's a pretty loud "clack"- or look at the compressor pulley centre whilst someone turns a/c on/off.

Next is check the system pressure. System won't allow the compressor to start if the static system pressure is too low. Sounds like you have a leak and they haven't found it

If it's just a very slow leak I would simply top it up

I had some problems with mine that seemed to go on for months. Finally is seems to be sorted and has been working for nearly a month.

1) flimsy aircon pipe broken. Replaced, leak tested, re-gassed. Still did not work as compressor not engaging.

2) Loose wire to compressor was tightened and now compressor comes on. Listen for "clack" as dekchair says. Seemed to be holding pressure in system with cold air blowing out...cold air only lasted for one week on two occassions.

3) Found slow leak at bottom near radiator where new pipe fitted. Replaced old 'o' ring with new one and since then i have had no trouble.

Its probably a slow leak. If the aircon engineer can do a dye test...even if it takes a week or two, eventually you will have and area where the dye is showing up. Thats how mine was discovered.
