I have just fitted a standard air filter box assembly, but i wanna make sure I have done it correct. There is a pipe that comes from it, but it goes nowere :/ Is this correct?

Plus Im using 10w40 mineral oil for my engine, is this safe?

The pipe connects to the bottom of the filter box.

and if it was a 1.2 8v that is the correct oil.

I ave the pipe connected to the filter box, but then that goes nowere. Plus where the box sits, there looks like something i pipe can go into no more bigger then a penny. Whats that for?

the pipe has three connections one connects to the rocker cover left hand side near the oil filler cap one which is small connects next to the throttle body, and the other connects to the bottom of the filter box.

Ive no idea what you mean lol. Are there any instructions anywhere for this?

Yea i thought that, that hose wont reach, it looks like its been cut for some reason. Ill work on it tomorrow, but I do need that to reach under the filter, but it wont.

Might not be cut. The hose is no longer than it needs to be so fitting it is fiddly. You have to locate it with the filter box in the air and lower the box keeping it attached with your third hand. The box end doesn't have a flange like the rocker cover end does so might look like something is missing.

Shame because soon as I read the reply that that oil was ok, I just put it all in :/ It oil level was on empty, would it be ok to just use this oil the once, but then after go to proper oil?

I really do have to apologise I read that wrong as was on phone, having re read the above is right it should be a semi synthetic 10w-40 NOT mineral oil really am sorry about that.

As stated if it is the oil you have used then I would drain and do another oil and filter change with the correct oil.

I did just assumed when I saw 10w-40 that it would be semi synthetic. Are you sure its just mineral oil?

(note to sell stop reading stuff on phone)

So will I not be ok to drive this for a couple of days on that oil?

I will when I get to that. Thanks everyone. Another problem tho lol, Car is struggling to get to 40mph/50mph.. would the plug leads be a cause of this? Cos i know I need a new set?

That could be alsorts from a misfire = no power
To a blocked Cat = No breathe = No power
To slipping clutch = Power is there but nowt on the wheels

Saying struggles to get to speed isn't really a where to start point
Are you getting poor MPG? Your engine rocking its tits off in the engine bay? Your engine screams but don't go anywhere

Also remember there only a 1.2, they have poke with low gears, but once you start to hit 3rd it not gonna be speedy gonzales :)

Engine is fine it doesnt scream or owt. I can get into gear no problem. Its like it does go over 40 except ive gotta stick it in second to get the power to go to 40. Maybe a new set of plug leads will help that.

If it's not misfiring it could be that the timing belt is out a tooth or two.
p.s. Over here Lidl are offering 5 litres of 10w40 semisyn A3/B4 for 16 odd Euro. Grabbed some today to give it a whirl.
