Yes, dearly beloved, Blue 2 has developed a stress crack in the driver's side B pillar.

Will check tomorrow, didnt notice anything the other weekend when fitting the cage, Tig welder will be coming out if there is a crack, and hopefully the cage should prevent it from happening

have to keep an eye on mine the apex shockers are like concreate on the n/a one! cinqs dont have the stiffest of chassis i want a cage in both of mine when i have the time and money, and hope the car will stay together ha

Yeah. The Uniroyals have softened it up a lot. Once I get the bushes sorted it shouldn't clunk any more!

does omp still do the cages for cinqs? and how much are they (from anyone in general)

There is always an OMP one on EBay for about £350.

I think OMP and Sparco still do them. About £350, I think, for the bolt in. Tweeks et al or eBay.

Don't forget the buckets and the full harness, or it'll be a lot less safe!

Well from DemonTweeks you can get both the OMP and Sparco 'Cinq' cage (8 point bolt in, FIA approved) for about £420 delivered, iirc the sparco was a few £ cheaper. The 'Sei' weld in (8 point, RAC approved) is around £585 delivered.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the overly 'helpful' guy on the phone to give me the price for a Sparco Sei MSA approved cage (10 point possibly weld in) as it wouldn't fit in a Cinq & no net prices for that cage. I personally would think it will fit as I can't see any real differences between the Sei and Cinq once you've removed everything rearward of the dash.

Mine is on a -40mm APEX kit. Fitted for ~18 months and done less than 4,000miles.

It does get hammered though, sometimes 4 up.

i filled the pillars on my mk1 renault 5 with expanding spray foam. it made quite a difference to the handling and made the car quieter, the bangs and crashes and creaks it made after fitting spax all round made it tedious to drive.

Yeah, foaming adds a lot of stiffness for very little weight. After I've eradicated all the rust and welded up the cracks (none on Blue, btw, only Blue 2) and bonded the carbon bits on, I fancy some waxolyl (or something better) and filling the sills and pillars (and that nasty little box section channel which ends by the rear lights with foam.

Did you use builder's crazy foam (aerosol) or the 2 pack stuff?
