Punto (Mk2/2b) Advice wanted for a newbie on here

I have a fiat Punto active sport 3dr 05 plate.
It has today failed it's MOT. The subframe is rotten apparently you can push your fingers through it.
So the garage have said they've never seen this on a Punto before and have never replaced one. He's said that they could probably weld it for £200 but won't know if it can be welded till they take the car apart so if it can't be done I'd have pay costs for just looking but they can't give me a definitive yes it can no it can't be done. It also needs a new spring at the cost of £100.

Now someone else has said £100 to fit a subframe and £100 for a 2nd hand subframe plus £100 for spring and labour cost to do that.

Is it worth getting done or should I sell the car as spares or repairs as apart from this and a few scratches the car is ok.
It has 67000k on the clock and I've owned the car 3 yrs. (been driving 3.5yrs).

Ideally I do need a 5dr now I've had a baby but ATM I manage.

no more than £250 I'd have thought..,
if the car is good, then probably worth spending up to £300 for another years motoring,

fit a good used one.. welding is pointless,


where are you based..? that will effect prices
