Hello
I am new here because I am buying a camper van based on the new Ducatto SWB van and would welcome some advice:
Options are 3.5t with 16" alloys or 3.3t on 17". Question is will there be any difference in the ride or handling and if so which will be the better. I don't expect to need the extra payload.
Reports say that the 130 bhp version would be excellent but does anyone have a view about whether its worth paying the extra for the for the 148bhp
Advice would be much appreciated.
Best wishes
Alan

Hi I have an '08 panel van LWB conversion 3300kg.
Thought the missing 200kg would not be a problem but I'm sorry now.

Short wheel base with a camper chassis pitches and rolls there's no advantage to the consumer just manufacturer saves a few bob.

17 inch commercial tyres are expensive limited selection and I don't think anyone makes 17inch camper tyres.

Go for taller rubber between you and the road unless your van will spend its time on the autobahn.

With a camper weight adds up very quickly vosa random checks showed 80% of campers overweight. In europe police will haul you off to a weighbridge if they suspect you're overweight.

3500kg, 16inch wheels, lwb and lots of ccs

Thanks for replies.
It will be a new conversion based on new van.
Guess I'll go for the 3.5 and 16"
Any thoughts on whether the 148ps is worth an extra £1,200
Alan
