Hi, Im new to this forum. I have a stilo 1.9 jtd o4 plate. The problem im having is that sometimes whilst driving the accelarator will stop working, I stop turn engine off for a minute, and start car and drive again. This can sometimes happen 2 or 3 times a day. The engine fault light is lit up. Had this prob for ages now. Had it to garage on computer, they say its accelarator fault. Had new pedal fitted and faults reset only to happen again, Fault started again after the snow we just had. Any idea's pls would be greatly welcomed. Thanks again Dazza.:)

What was the fault code? There is often confusion between an accelerator fault (in car) and a throttle fault (in engine)

Not got the code as the guy at garage said it was just saying no accelerator, But this has been changed. Have moved the overboost valve to side of battery tray, Was also told it could be the egr valve???. Also the pipe form the air box to the turbo is loose fitting think the clamp is worn. Would this have any affect on performance? Thanks again.

Without the fault code then it would be total guess work particularly on the accelerator or throttle system. Best bet is buy yourself a fault code reader or obtain the means to read fault codes as it will be a good investment. Otherwise you could waste a lot of time and money

There really is no throttle system on a JTD. The only thing that controls power is the injector opening time. I would suggest it is a sensor fault causing it to go in limp home mode. Possibly the cam shaft sensor or fuel pressure sensor, but like Decks says, without the fault codes it is only guessing.
