Hi mate,
All of a sudden the ABS, ESR and ASR failure trio coming up just after or during start can be indications of a battery running low on capacity. It does not mean it's surely that, but for example our Stilo 1.6 Petrol had a 3 year old battery and just recently as the weather started coming down with the cold

in the mornings around -0C or even under, I noticed that the car turned very sluggishly, while in warm weather +10C and above it fired on the turn of the key...
Took out the battery, tested it
under load which is important and it says that it had around 70% capacity which meant that when the weather is colder and the engine is cold during startup on a battery that is dying the voltage drops enough to cause these "fake" errors exactly in the safety critical systems like the ABS, ESR and ASR.
Changed the battery to a new one, puff, problem gone. Car starts up without any errors in cold mornings now.
Best to just have a quick measurement on the battery.
And if getting a new one, try to find one, well one that suits your pocket for starters, but besides that a battery that has a high cold startup amperage.
There are usually 3 numbers on car batteries.
1. Voltage, it should be 12V
2. Amperage anywhere from 45Ah to 72Ah and
3. Cold start amperage or startup power, a number somewhere in the range of 420A to 720A
Try to find a decent battery with a relatively high cold startup amperage, mine is 620A now and it does it's job.
I have Exide Excell 12V 64Ah 620A by the way.
Cheers.
